A Peace Pole is a monument that displays the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth” in 4 languages. More than 200,000 have been planted around the world in over 190 countries. The idea for peace poles was conceived after WWII in Japan. The poles are handcrafted by The World Peace Sanctuary  in Wassaic, NY, the Intl. home/headquarters of the foundation. The foundation has offices around the world. Peace poles are in many prominent places including the United Nations, the Pentagon and the Peace Palace in Den Hague. Choose Peace/Stop Violence and BCPS DPI Dept. have awarded 28 Peace Poles in our district since 2010. The Choose Peace Initiative’s work in Broward County was awarded with the 2016 Culture of Peace Award  by the foundation. Find out more here
